Concussion Rehabilitation

In addition to physiotherapy and sports rehab, we utilise NeuroFlex® to provide comprehensive concussion rehabilitation services.

A concussion is defined as "a disturbance in brain function caused by a blow to the head," which can occur from both direct and indirect impacts, often resulting from player-to-player or player-to-ground contact.

Notably, a concussion may or may not involve a loss of consciousness. Shockingly, statistics reveal that more than 10% of all contact sports athletes sustain a concussion each year.

Concussion Physiotherapy is a specialised form of physiotherapy tailored to individuals who have sustained a concussion.

Our Concussion Physiotherapy Methods — NeuroFlex®

What is NeuroFlex®?

NeuroFlex is a variety of tests completed through a VR headset that measures your eye and head position as you complete each task. Each test is designed to evaluate a different aspect of our brain health reflexes.

Once you complete the test, we will receive an objective report that breaks down your ocular motor function and brain health. From this report, we will identify pain points that inform how we tailor your treatment program. The NeuroFlex stimulates and assists performance based on your test results.

Why is NeuroFlex concussion screening important?

  • Concussions are difficult to diagnose and each presents differently between persons in terms of severity and symptoms.

  • NeuroFlex testing allows us to accurately record a baseline concussion test and gives us objective data to compare against upon concussion when we retest the individual.

  • We can track the progression of your concussion rehab and determine when it is safe for you to return to play.

  • Repeat testing can help identify cognitive symptoms or deficits that may require further treatment or rehabilitation.
